Project
Multi-family housing development consisting of 162 apartments in the heart of the Central District of Seattle, including:
Three separate buildings providing a range of floorplans and styles, including studios, one- and two-bedroom units
Two levels of underground parking with 209 stalls
Landscaped courtyards and decks
Ground level commercial, including a bank branch, a sandwich shop, and offices
Takes its name from the former Welch Hardware Store that was a fixture in the neighborhood until it closed in 1998
A key anchor for the intersection where it is built, it will provide market-rate and affordable housing
Complements the robust retail district located across the street
Construction began in 2002. The first phase opened in November 2003, and the remainder will open in February 2004
The project is located in an economic development area and has received extensive financial and political support from the City of Seattle
