Student Center at Seattle University Case Study

Development Goal

To create a campus focal point for students, faculty and staff, while linking the main campus to residence halls.

Project

  • Collegiate Development of a 64,000-square foot student center, including:
    • Student services offices

    • Maguire Campus Ministry Center

    • Dining and meeting facilities

    • Skybridge between academic buildings and student housing

    • Collegia – home like spaces with kitchen facilities and study areas for commuter students

    • Showers and lockers for students who commute via bicycle
  • Opened September 2002

Lorig Involvement

  • Managing the design, planning, permitting, and construction process for the University

  • Applying for Green Building status under the US Green Building Council's LEED Certifications program to maintain the University's Jesuit mission of emphasizing social justice, building community and promoting sustainable and equitable use of the world's resources
